Milpa is more than just the Aztec way of agriculture. It is culture, heritage and a way of life.
Also known as "The Three Sisters", it's the practice of companion planting corn, beans and squash in one space to create a self sustaining growing system
The corn grows first and provides a trellis for the bean. The bean is a nitrogen fixer and feeds the corn and the squash. The squash provides ground cover with its leaves and protects the other plants from drought.
Milpa is the primary philosophy with which we design your space.
Our work transforms outdoor areas into thriving ecosystems that provide food, shade, and a deeper connection to nature. Whether you want to turn a lawn into a self-sustaining landscape or invest in a garden that gives back, we design spaces that grow, adapt, and last.
Services
The purpose of our work is for our clients to be able to see the potential vision brought to life and for the contractors to have the necessary information to confidently price and deliver their projects.
The focus of all of our work is to prioritise the ecology of the space, to work with your environment and to balance the input vs the impact of our interventions*
*You won't find weedmat or black mulch in our designs.
Concept Design
We study your site, the conditions, your goals, opportunities and restraints, to craft a concept vision to inspire action.
Construction Plans
With the vision in mind, we get to work to turn the concept into a fully developed plan that contractors can use to expertly cost and deliver the project.
Planting Plans
As the finishing touch to your vision, we invite nature to talk hold in your space by designing a multi-layerd planting plan with the plants that you and your space prefers.
Meet the designer
From vision to execution, together with my trusted contractors and mentors, we take a holistic approach, blending modern landscape design with regenerative principles. By understanding your site and goals, we bridge the gap between design and construction to craft functional, future-proof spaces.
